Theyre Playing Our Song at the Uptown Marble Theatre in 2005! Mark your calendars! The Hill Country Childrens Advocacy will host the hit play, Theyre Playing Our Song, written by Neil Simon (The Goodbye Girl, Barefoot in the Park), on January 22 & 23, 2005. The production will be performed at the newly renovated Marble Uptown Theatre at 218 Main Street in Marble Falls.
He writes the notes, she writes the words, and together they make beautiful music! The comedy of Neil Simon soulfully blends with the music of Harvin Hamlisch (The Way We Were, A Chorus Line) & Carol Bayer-Sager (Dont Cry Out Loud, Thats What Friends Are For) to create a wonderfully written, endearingly funny, romantic comedy about an established composer and his loving relationship with a zany, aspiring young female lyricist. The crazy couple is romantically drawn to each other, but, ?their professional and personal successes and difficulties lead to one hilarious scene after another.
Sharon Rossberg of Spicewood was hired to direct the play. Rossberg has several successful credits and is widely known in the creative arts field. Nationally known actor, Don Shook of Dallas, will play Marvin Hamlisch and Burnet local & nationally known, Roseann Hayman will play the role of Carol Bayer-Sager.
It is fun and it is funny, full of blithe good humor, hilarious jokes and witty, pointed characterizations?. The concept of the musical is absolutely beguiling?.Simon has gotten himself another odd couple even odder than his first?..and is at his most sprightly and acidly comic. New York Post
Proceeds from the play will benefit the Hill Country Children's Advocacy Center, a non-profit organization that aids abused children and their families in seven Central Texas counties.
