American Cancer Society -Saturday Night Life

The Hope Hunters, a Relay for Life interfaith youth team, is sponsoring a variety show, Saturday Night Life, to be held the evening of April 2nd at the Hill Country Community Theater in Cottonwood Shores. All proceeds from the show will be donated to the American Cancer Society.


The show will feature many local talents including Larry Elkins who will emcee the show as Cousin Willie Ray from Saniflush County, Arkansas. Larry has previously toured with the Grand Ole Opry and has performed in Branson, Missouri and at the Llano, Mason and Burnet Country Oprys.


Big Lloyd Dalton has also performed at the Llano , Mason and Burnet Country Oprys and will be singing a few old country favorites. Lloyd has opened shows for such country greats as Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Mel Tillis and Web Pierce. He has also made appearances on the Louisiana Hayride, the Big D Jamboree and the Nashville Network.


Premium Blend, a quartet spinoff of the Hill Country Blenders Barbershop Chorus, will contribute their pleasing harmonies as well. The Blenders Chorus has previously performed at numerous events in the Hill Country and is preparing for their 2nd annual Hill Country Blenders Extravaganza to be held June 4th at the Marble Falls High School auditorium.


In addition, Preston Coe and Sarah Spillman, who recently appeared in the Hill Country Community Theatre production of Oklahoma, will showcase their unique singing talents. They will be appearing in their own show Rockin’ Romance on May 6th and 7th at the Uptown Marble Theatre.


Other singing talents include Jan Seides, an accomplished musician and award-winning songwriter, and A.D. (After Death) Berry and Bob Ware, who regularly entertain the residents of the Windchimes Assisted Living Facility in Kingsland.


To provide a little variety, Eric Heiberg will serve up his own brand of deranged comedy. Eric has previously appeared at the Hyatt and at the Capital City Comedy Club in Austin, as well as the Improv in Dallas and Stanford and Sons in Kansas City.



The Plungettes, a synchronized marching team that has appeared at numerous Hill Country functions, will perform a rousing number to start the show and the Wildflowers will entertain with a couple of unique dance routines. The Wildflowers dance troupe can also be seen at the April 4th Highland Lakes Social Club Luncheon in Kingsland and at the March 19th Hill Country Community Theatre Gala, Books to Broadway.


The event will also include a silent auction, a raffle and other surprise entertainment in the lobby before the show and during intermission. Refreshments and Relay for Life luminaries and bracelets will also be sold at those times.


Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. Showtime is at 8:00 p.m. All tickets will be pre-sold for a donation to the American Cancer Society. Anyone attending the show will be eligible for a two-for-one discount when purchasing tickets for the April 20th production of Steel Magnolias at the Hill Country Community Theatre.
