An original work, taken from the writings of Kathi Jackson and chronicling the lives of WWII nurses, will premier at Hill Country Community Theatre December 5th through the 7th. They Called Them Angels is taken from actual interviews of the nurses who served, and loosely spans Pearl Harbor to the end of the war. It is a collection of monologues, dialogues, letters, and simple remembrances, and will be presented in a multimedia format: eight actresses will represent the everywoman character of the nurse as she experiences the pride and heartache of the WWII experience. As the actresses recite, images and sounds of the war will compliment their stories; there will also be songs and music of the time to transition from one piece to the next. The actresses are Debbie Balsam, Priscilla Castaneda, Vickie Cody, Francie Dix, Pam Hawley, and Linda Maher. Musical accompaniment will be provided by Kristine Robinson. Director Jim McDermott and Assistant Director Tom Maher are looking for someone to assist with the multi-media part of the show, to help with collection of images and projection of such, and also someone to help with acquiring and organizing props and memorabilia of the time. Call Jim at 830-693-2474 if youre interested in helping out. Tickets are $15.00 for Adults and $7.00 for Child/Student and can be ordered now through the box office at 830-798-8944. Showtime are 7:30 on Friday and Saturday, and a 2:15 matinee on Sunday December 7th Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Author Kathi Jackson will be at all of the shows to meet and greet.
