The King and I

The King and I ran for many years on Broadway and was a successful motion picture with the late actor Yul Brynner, and remains one of the most popular musicals in American theatre. The Rogers and Hammerstein‚s classic is about Bangkok in the 1860s, a young British widow -- Anna Leonowens --and her son entering the closed and secret world of Siam and its royalty. Hired by the King to educate his many children, she herself receives an education. She finds herself at odds with the stubborn king, but over time, she and the monarch stop trying to change one another and begin to understand each other. "Shall We Dance," "Whistle a Happy Tune," "Getting to Know You" and "Hello Young Lovers" are just some of the great musical standards in the score.

The King and I opens on Thursday, July 31 and runs through Sunday, August 17. We have a large and talented cast of all ages along with a 14-piece orchestra.
