HCCT-02-23 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HCCT AUDITIONS ON MONDAY, DEC. 9,
FOR LEAVE IT TO THE NAVY!
Cast seeks six women, eight men, one little girl and a chorus of 12 adults.
COTTONWOOD SHORES, TEXAS (Dec. 3, 2002) -- Hill Country Community Theatre will hold auditions at 7 p.m., Monday, Dec. 9, for Leave it to the Navy! a service comedy with great musical numbers written by Jay Meredith of Horseshoe Bay, Texas.
The play, which will run Feb. 13 through March 2, reflects the South Pacific after WWII., Natives must be removed from their home islands and relocated so the U.S. government can test its new atomic bomb. The Navy gets the job, the islanders don’t want to go and a sidetracked group of Women’s Army Corps members further complicates both official and romantic matters.
Meredith, a retired USAF colonel is expected to score another hit with this show, his second at HCCT in two years. “Like his musical Miss Julie, his shows are fun, the song are memorable and you can hum to it,” says HCCT Executive Director Bruce Hennie, who will direct the large cast.
The playhouse is located at 4003 FM 2147 West, across from Bob’s Exxon and at the entrance to Cottonwood Shores, between Marble Falls and Horseshoe Bay. The script is available for checkout and review during office hours at the theatre. If a child can’t read yet, she will be given some simple direction and lines to act out. The large casting requirements for this play include six women, eight men, one little girl and a chorus of 12 adults:
