Food, fashion, fun kicks-off witty look at modern-day romance, relationships.

MARBLE FALLS, TEXAS (Feb 13, 2004) – Do you want to carry over those warm, fuzzy -- and sometimes perplexing -- emotions from Valentine’s Day right into March? Then make a date to enjoy the laugh-filled musical revue I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change at the Hill Country Community Theatre (HCCT), running Feb. 19 through March 7. The show begins its run Thursday with a Grand Gala Opening (food and drink) as well as a fashion show.

Schumann’s, The Fashion Place, with locations in Marble Falls, and Eden TX, will present spring fashions on opening night.

“Our latest designer apparel and vibrant accessories will be modeled during the Gala buffet,” said Schumann’s owner Paula Duwe. “GiGi Fischer of Spicewood; Suzanne Brown of Marble Falls, and Sarah Hays, Helen Colescott, Rae Nicholson, Joan Otts and Sally Wright, all of Horseshoe Bay, will model the outfits. We’ll have classy clothes, colorful sportswear and captivating couture for the casual Hill Country lifestyle.”

The Gala Committee – 16 volunteers -- is coordinated by Claudia Bird and Maris Lynne Long. Patti Carr heads decorations. Mark Sullivan, a new Horseshoe Bay florist is providing arrangements for the lobby and the show. The Gala, one-night only, adds $10 to the $15 ticket price.

Change, the longest–running off-Broadway revue in history, is a merry celebration of the sometimes wacky courtship and marriage game in America. Joe DiPietro’s wonderful script is smartly paired with Jimmy Robert’s mirthful and memorable songs.

“The revue explores our journey to romance from dating and waiting to love and marriage,” says Bruce Hennie, HCCT Executive Director, who both directs and acts in the third show of the current season.

The Box Office (830-798-8944) is open Monday through Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. and reports brisk pre-show ticket sales. Reservations also can be made through www.hcct.org, or left on the answering machine. No tickets will be sold for children under 12. Curtain is at 8 p.m. nightly, and the Sunday matinees are at 2:15 p.m.

The 147-seat playhouse is located at 4003 FM 2147 West, across from Bob’s Exxon and at the entrance to Cottonwood Shores, between Marble Falls and Horseshoe Bay.

Love Across the Spectrum

“Change takes on the truths and myths behind the greatest riddle in history – the relationship between men and women,” Hennie emphasizes. “That’s the mystery men and women have been trying to solve for eons.

“This lighthearted look at romance reveals the agonies and triumphs of in-laws, newborns, family car trips and even the pick-up techniques of the seniors set! The roles include

business executives, bored dates, tennis players, attorneys, new parents, travelers, mourners, lovers, a prison inmate, bride and groom, a dating video prospect and an engineer and golfer.

The 13-member cast includes Diana Thomson of Cottonwood Shores, Carl Conger of Horseshoe Bay and Jane Kelley Martin of Burnet -- all making their first appearance on the HCCT stage.

Joining them are Jane’s husband Dennis Martin; Melodie Lane and Pete Pleban, “Texans” who “escaped” a Minnesota winter, and Preston and Dale Kirk of Spicewood. Mark Fernandes of Granite Shoals, Carolyn Lloyd of Horseshoe Bay and Jennifer Romero of Round Mountain, no strangers to this stage, round out the cast.

Taylor Smith of Meadowlakes is Stage Manager, and Terri Cantu of Horseshoe Bay is heading costumes. Harmony Peacock of Marble Falls is handling the lighting design.
