HCCT-04-03 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HCCT AUDITIONS FOR LOVE, SEX AND THE IRS
SET FOR 7 P.M., MONDAY, MARCH 1

Joe Ginnane – recent Texas Tech MFA grad – named Guest Artistic Director.

MARBLE FALLS, TEXAS (Feb. 19, 2004) – Auditions will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, March 1 at Hill Country Community Theatre in Marble Falls, Texas, for Love Sex and the IRS, a rollicking farce opening just in time to celebrate tax season.

The most sought after commodity will be four young people in their 20s.

The eight- member cast, which requires four persons in their 20s, will be directed by Artistic Guest Director Joe Ginnane, freshly graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree from Texas Tech in Lubbock. Ginnane received his acting and directing degree in December, but has spent the past two summers as Associate Artistic Director of Canterbury Summer Theatre in Michigan City, Indiana.

The wild farce, written by William Van Zandt and Jane Milmore, provides twists of fate, sight gags and mistaken identities, as well as and encyclopedia of truly funny lines. Playing for two weeks, the show will open, appropriately, on April 15th and run for only nine performances through the April 25th. Curtain is at 8 p.m. nightly with two Sunday matinees at 2:15 p.m.

Box office for the production will open weekdays and Saturdays beginning April 5 from noon until 4 p.m. Information and reservations can be had by calling 830-798-8944 or using the www.hcct.org web site.

HCCT is located at 4003 West FM 2147 in Cottonwood Shores, between Marble Falls and Horseshoe Bay. Scripts for the play are available for checkout now.

In the storyline, two out-of-work male musicians room together, with one of them having claimed his roommate as his spouse to save money on their tax returns. When the IRS investigator comes calling, one of them has to masquerade as the housewife with the help of a girlfriend who has a romantic interest with the other guy. A visit by the fiancée and one of their mother’s further complicates the plot.

The play has parts for five men and three women. They are:

• Kate Dennis, a pretty, petite brunette in her 20s;
• Leslie Arthur, a gawky musician type in his 20s;
• Mr. Jansen, a beer-bellied drunk of a landlord;
• John Trachtman, a good-looking guy in his 20s;
• Floyd Spinner, a suit-type auditor for the IRS;
• Vivian Trachtman, 45-ish, stoic, with bubble-cut hair;
• Connie, 20s, an attractive, blonde talker;
• Arnold Grunion, 50-ish, shady trenchcoat character.

HCCT has an open casting policy. No experience is required. All parts require some basic stage movement. Auditions will consist of cold readings. The HCCT Audition Policy does not allow pre-casting. Everyone, regardless of experience is encouraged to try-out, and volunteers for lighting, props, stage management, make-up, costumes and set construction are also encouraged to attend the audition

Rehearsals, which are typically held Mondays through Thursdays between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m., begin Tuesday, March 2.

Meanwhile, “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” continues its three week run through March 7, providing music, laughter and hilarious situations on romantic relationships.
